Me-gen-dah!

Whattadayyy. I had a stressful weekend so (surprise! surprise!) I missed Doc Mana's class again for the nth time. I was fretting the whole morning because I couldn't remember what time I should see Stedy for my .NET orals. Turns out I signed up for the 4:00-4:30 slot. But my stupid diskette didn't work, and stupid me forgot to bring the much more reliable CD copy. So I ended up going home sometime after 2:00 since Theo period was just used for a quick group meeting. (Interruption: Our attempt to keep away from each other (Zi, Phi, Ken and me) during Doc V's class was half a failure. I swear I could feel some mysterious force slowly bringing us all closer to each other--para dumaldal at huwag na namang makinig ng lecture. Oh well, at least we tried.)

Phi went home with me, kasi si Patty walang silbi, hindi madala sa school yung CD ko! Anyway, I saved all my project files (PictureArray, TicTacToe and Etch-A-Sketch) in a folder named "VANNIEng maganda" para lang asarin si Phi at tapatan ang mataas niyang self-esteem. Well, little did I know that it would cause me quite an embarassment later on. Hay. On the way back, ang ever-hungry Philip ay nagpakain ng chicken balls. We chatted the afternoon away (abrelata?!) while waiting for my orals.

Orals: The computers at F224 did not have CD-ROMs. So Stedy had to go to the other room to transfer my files to his flask disk. Janjararan! Ang ganda ng folder name ko!

"Me-gen-dah?" with weird smile.

Aaaagh! Well I was just smiling sheepishly and unable to explain why I had such a grreat folder name.

"What's the '-ng' for?"

"Oh, just to connect the two words together..."

What the hell! The orals were okay, until he asked me to do a "memory" feature for my Etch-A-Sketch--which had a blank screen whenever it was repainted.

"You can make a 2-D array with 1000 or so elements and make it remember what lines it should redraw."

"Okay."

"Do you get what I mean?"

"Yes."

Silence.

"Could you do that?"

More silence.

"Umm, now??"

"Yes."

"Owwwkay."

Hay. I struggled with the 2-D array syntax of C# and ended up redrawing only a single line. But Stedy was really running late with his oral exams and RJ was waiting outside already. So he said defeatedly, "It seems like you knew what you were doing, anyway. You just need to debug..." And so I was free! I caught up with our basketball practice with Kim, Mia, Keri, Em, Beng, and 2 other girls (Anna and Betz, IIRC). It was fun--puro comedy at kalokohan! And Kim's usual expression of "Wala!" right before her three-point shot goes straight into the basket. Si Mia parang baliw talaga sa katatawa.

It rained hard just when we were finishing up. Among the four of us (Kim, Mia, Keri and me), only I had an umbrella and a small one at that. So Kim and I claimed our free foot spa as we went to her car and braved the raging rivers ahead. Then we made daan Mia and Keri at Manang's. I was so engrossed in making kwento to Kim about my orals that I forgot I was supposed to go down and fetch the two with my umbrella, so they just ran to the car! At that moment, I said "Ay oo nga! Dapat pala bumaba ako para sunduin kayo!" Then Kim added, "O nga, may malaking payong pala ko dito sa car!" So ayun, kagulo na naman kami sa kakatawa.

Mia got off at Burgundy Place, at takot na takot masira ang basketball shoes niya. Keri got off at Burgundy Plaza, while I got down at Jollibee para mag-trike na pauwi. Ang lakas ng ulan! I guess I'd appreciate the hot tinola we'll have for dinner now. :)
